Shakespeare under the stars will be performed at the Little Theatre in the grounds behind it.
This year we are presenting Twelfth Night – but with a modern twist!
This years Shakespeare under the Stars has been turned on its head to re-invigorate the concept of Shakespeare. Drawing on its roots of bawdy and slapstick comedy, the inclusion of song and dance, Twelfth Night has been set in modern day but has kept its beautiful Shakespearean language.
If our spectacular opening sequence, filled with incredible lighting sound and the flashy moves of a high energy hip hop crew doesn’t capture you, then sit back to be captivated by heartfelt performances and be entertained by catchy songs.
We are delighted to present a mix of highly skilled veteran actors and welcome new to the stage talent for our annual Shakespeare under the Stars. Twelfth Night combines love, confusion, mistaken identities, and joyful discovery. Here, Shakespeare portrays gender and sexuality as ambiguous, unstable, and fluid. Twelfth Night questions each of the characters to answer the eternal query of “What is love?”.
